February Fun

Compared with the rest of the country we seem to be blessed with a mild winter so far. Not all that many gloomy drizzly days and not very cold. Wonder what the rest of it will be? I don't mind the rain, any excuse to stay in and sew is good with me.

I'll start out with the class schedule for the next few weeks.

This coming Friday February 13 is  Reets Rags to Stitches sewing day. We meet from 10-4 with lunch served all for $10.00. We are working on various projects designed by one of our most favorite designers. if you aren't familiar with her style, go to:

http://www.reetsragstostitches.com/   and you will see why we like her work. She has a great blog. Several of us are doing her Block of the Month and are really enjoying it.

Thursday February 19 is Maggie Bononami Day. I just found this blog

https://theslowstitchingmovement.wordpress.com/2014/11/16/guest-blogger-maggie-bonanomi-says-slow-stitching-is-just-what-i-want-to-do/

and Maggie is their guest blogger and it has pictures of Maggie and some of her designs. So if you aren't familiar with her, this is a great place to get a taste. I hope that link works well. This class also runs from 10-4 with lunch and is $10.00.

Sunday February 22 is Open Sew from 11-4, lunch and is $10.00. You can bring any hand sewing project and stitch with Kindred spirits.

Saturday February 28  is Prairie Women Sewing Circle at 10 to 11.  After that is the Spargonian group from 11:30-4. Lunch is served and is also $10.00. If you like Sue Spargo designs you will love seeing what everyone is working on. Here is a place to go if you need a refresher about Sue's designs.

Thursday March 5  This is a class/ sewing time for making Fall/Halloween projects. There never seems to be enough time to get ready for the favorite season for many of us. Bring your hand stitching and join us. If you don't have a project in mind, come and we will inspire you.  10-4  lunch served and $10.00.

Friday March 6  is First Friday. You may bring any project that you are working on or need help with and we serve up great advice for free.  It is fun to share ideas and lunch together. 10-4 $10.00

Sunday March 8  is Open Sew again. See above for description. This is available on the 2nd and 4th Sunday's of each month.

That's probably enough information for now. Let's get on with some pictures.

During our last Maggie Day most of us working on a beautiful piece with buttons in the center.

The next group are from our Prairie Women Sewing Circle

It happened to be my birthday and Mary Ann brought this yummy cake.

We ate our way through class and continued on during
the Spargonian class

Diana brought oh-so-tasty hummus and vegetables...great with the cake!!

OK, so some of us are going to be making some doll sized quilts and we decided it would be fun to maybe do a little with some 30's fabric. Some people have none of this fabric and some are willing to share theirs. So the next thing is which pattern to try. English paper piecing is fun and lends itself to the 30's. Here are a sample of what we might like to do.

This is a block from Reets Rags to Stitches BOM and a Mary Ann project.
