Let's try for two.

When I wrote last before my computer quit co-operating with me, I wanted to show you some pictures of our walk around the promenade by the river. It was such a beautiful day and I loved my pictures. I'm going to try it again. This is such a beautiful bridge. I think we are so privileged to live in such a beautiful city with so many interesting ways of getting across the river. Really close up to the bridge. The entertainers! Beauty by the river How can you not enjoy a walk with all this to look at. It was a great day. Lately I have been teaching some great classes. In my next post, I will show some of the work we have all been doing.  Wisdom thought: From Psalm 119 verse 105 Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

It's been a LONG time!!

I finally have my computer back from the Dr. and hopefully now I can do more than just write words, I can actually have pictures too. Over the weekend my daughter and several friends went to the Women of Faith conference and also worked in the World Vision booth. We signed up a lot of sponsors for children all over the world who need so much. Sunday night Ginny, Darren, Loren and I went to the Newsboys concert. Wow that was amazing....loud, bright lights, wonderful music. Wild. OK...I'm going to try and post this and see if it is working properly! Thanks for your patience.

A Walk Around the River and Solid Rock

Usually on Sunday morning we go to Solid Rock for the 8 am service. Once a year the three places that meet and are called Solid Rock meet at the Hillsboro Stadium for a service all together. This Sunday was that day. So we decided to go for a walk around the Promenade down by the river. We started a little south of the Steel Bridge, walked across and then through Sat. Market back across the Hawthorne Bridge and then finished up. It was a little short of 4 miles. A little misty and chilly but beautiful. Here are a few of my favorite scenes.

A baby shower and a berry barn

I haven't been to a baby shower in a long time. My daughter, Carrie, and I went to one yesterday at the Spaghetti Factory. The mom-to-be is a friend of the family and it was fun seeing women I haven't seen for a long time. We played that game where you get to see what is on a tray and then have to remember and write all the stuff down....well, some of the new baby stuff I have never seen before and didn't know what they were called. Needless to say, I did not win. The next game was a little creepy. The guests were given Dentyne gum and after chewing it awhile were to take it out and form a baby! Yuck.... My child is a very good potter and she formed the following....sorry, but I have to do it. Baby, complete with diaper, she won! The table decorations were very cute and useful. Little tiny disposable diapers rolled up in a pitcher. Great idea. Today after church at our awesome Solid Rock, we went to breakfast and then to a place called  The Berr...

After the quilt show and the 4th

Image
Things have slowed down a little and now for a little reflection. I love to be busy and I had a great time planning and sewing for the Sandy Quilt Show. Just after that we had our annual BBQ on the 4th. Some of our family and some neighbors and some friends from church came and we enjoyed the great food that everyone brought. My husband, Loren, is our BBQ chef and he did his awesome oysters along with chicken and Goose sausages! Here are a few pictures of the quilts from the quilt show. Hobo Quilt A Cheri Saffiote design A couple more pictures of my quilts in my area that Loren built for me! He built my quilt rack for all my little ones. They are now in my dining room. On the 4th we like to set up a festive area for our guests. After we eat and visit we often play a rousing game of Mexican Train. If you haven't had the pleasure of playing this, you really should try it! Our chef. We don't have many tradit...

Friday at the Sandy Quilt Show

Image
Friday was the first day of the show in Sandy. Lots of nice quilts and vendors. Here are a few pictures of my space and some of the quilts in the show. You have Sunday from 12-4 to come view them for yourself. I know you will enjoy them if you can come. And from the show: Well, for some reason it won't upload my pictures that I took with my camera. Tomorrow I will take more with my phone and  see what that might do. I haven't had trouble with that application before. Still learning I guess.  Sorry for the inconvenience. It has been fun sitting and stitching and visiting with visitors and my neighbors from Quilters Corner. I will be sad when tomorrow is over and I bring it all home. Although, now I can rearrange all my quilts at home. Wisdom Words for today: Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights. James 1v17

Three beginnings

Image
This has been a busy week. Our daughter, Jennifer went to France for several weeks. Our daughter, Carrie bought a travel trailer. We set me up for a quilt show, and Loren began serious work on our garage to turn it into a studio for me. Here is the cool old trailer that is now sitting beside our house. She is redoing the floors and other assorted things that need attention. This is the first of the three beginnings. Next we see Carrie in her space mask...needful for the sealer that went on the floor...still stinks! Here are the floors right before being sealed..pretty awesome, right!? First number two. The garage. An ordinary garage filled with 30 years accumulation. It once contained a bedroom for Jennifer, now it will be my domain. Here is a barn board, more coming to cover the walls, and then the tin that will cover the ceiling. Already I have placed two big tables and my music box and have done some sewing in the place where I dre...
