I'm So not enjoying this weather

We just returned from about a week at Nehalem Bay campground, it was a wonderfully peaceful time. Loren's sister came with us and then Ginny and Darren joined us for a nice mini reunion!

Very close to the campground there is a place called Cart m. It's kind of a recycle place (also called The Refindery)  that has cool stuff. Susan Pulford told me about this place and we visited it again. This is some of what they do...Upcycling....go visit if you can.

We made a trip to Manzanita. Fun little town to shop in.


Nice bench to rest on. There were wind surfers having a wonderful ride. It was very windy,

Martingale - Yoko Saito's Japanese Taupe Color Theory

On Saturday August 4 from 10-2 we will put together a color wheel of our own. Yoko takes you through her process of choosing colors for the projects in her book.

She has a wonderful sense of color and shows us how she works. Bring your stash of taupes and a glue stick and construct a color wheel to help you begin a project. It's a good skill building exercise. If you are willing to share, cut some of your fabric into 6" squares and do some trading to expand your collection.

Petit fours



There is a fun kind of art/quilt around these days called "inchies".  I prefer Petit Fours because they are petite and remind me of delicious little candy bites. Each little square is a unit all it's own and in groups make a pleasant statement.

Friday August 17 from 10-3 come and play with fabric, buttons, lace and ephemera. I will supply threads to choose from and assorted fabrics.

Once again I thank you for reading my blog. I am hoping it is a small source of  enjoyment. It is for me when I write it. I do find that sometimes I write like I text. In very short sentences! Camping in the Rain

 Hello Everyone,  We went camping at Barview Jetty a little while ago and it rained almost all the time we were there! On the way it was necessary to stop here at our favorite fish shop! Best shrimp, sauce, and clam chowder that we have found.  Excellent. We went there on the way to camp and on the way home. Even thought it rained so much, the clouds were spectacular. The sand had some cool patterns We had friends that camped next to us and we ate really well.  Some reading and stitching were also part of our days. A couple weeks ago we went to McIver park to camp. Again it rained almost the whole time we were there. Same friends kept us entertained and we continued with our eating really well. This is a reflection in the lake of the sun trying to come out. Mamma ducks and babies were enjoying the break in the rain. We have found out that our beloved Oscar has Prostate cancer and Cushings disease. It's a sad blow as we lost both our Silkies last year. We don't know how long we

Coming out of hibernation

 I decided it was time to bring my blog back to life. I thought about it for some time and decided it would be so nice to connect with friends again even if it's just with words. I have mostly enjoyed being at home and catching up with reading and sewing. My Etsy shop is doing well and I would like to share some of the things that are currently available.                                        I bought this tin in The Netherlands when I was recently there visiting my daughter and her family. They took me to a very cool old antique shop and they have Lots of tins. The shop had so many things that I would have liked to take home. But Not possible. This is another one! It's been fun finding things to put in the sewing boxes. They are listed in my Etsy shop thequiltingbshop.Etsy.com There are lots of size 12 Valdani Thread available too.
