Fall is the best time of the year

In my opinion anyway...Fall is my favorite!!!

First of all, two special classes.

Halloween Tree Class

Remember the Penny trees that we did some time ago? Now it's time for the Fall version. You can use small or large Styrofoam trees, Pennies or Yoyos. See picture for ideas. I'll send you a supply list when you sign up.

Friday Oct.5.  10-3 $10.00 lunch included.

Slow Stitching around the world

All the stitching we do around the table qualifies as "slow stitching". We visit, we connect, we eat and we form friendships. We are away from daily chores and distractions.

To compliment this practice I'd like to offer a day a month to expand on the idea of Slow Stitching.

You can work on any hand work project and in addition, I will give you some stitch examples from a class I took. You can try these out as a stitch sampler. Some who begin slow stitching like to start with a blank piece of fabric and just do some stitching each day. The stitches I share might be inspiring.

Also we will explore stitch practices in different countries. The first one will be French mending. Mostly done on household linens, ladies would mend over and over as they did not own very many towels or sheets.

I will provide a linen sample to mend and we will explore some of their way of life.

Classes in the future will include Egyptian applique, Scandinavian stitchery and more. I think it will add richness to what we sew and connect us with other cultures.

Saturday Oct. 13 10-3  $15.00 lunch included

Now for some pictures

Our Theory class

taupe shades
we made taupe color wheels

It was an adventure into unknown territory doing these color wheels. We learned a lot. Yoko Saito has a wonderful way of looking at color.

And then we made placemats!  This was lots of fun and we came out with beautiful reversible mats.

Linda brought us cupcakes to keep up our strength!!!  Yummy

We did Sashiko stitching and it magically made a different pattern on the front and back.

Thank you so much for reading....Betty
