Starting today my husband is taking a week vacation. He doesn't take vacation very often and it will be nice to have him around every day. He is working in the back yard making room for a Tough Shed. It will look kind of like this: Only a little bigger with French doors. After doing some planting and sweating in the hot sun, I am enjoying this little break of rain. It is good to have things watered by the heavens instead of the hose. Marigolds seem to brighten up any area I like our slightly wild gardening habits. I try to keep a tiny step ahead of the weeds but if it weren't for Loren, I'd be over my head in unruly areas. We have some lettuce and tomatoes, kale and rosemary. I'm not really a good gardener, but I love to dabble. The back will always be a work in progress. I guess no one ever finishes. There is always another flower that would look great in "that" spot and another little addition of an architectural feature. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++ On to sewing. I think everyone should travel. The planning is loads of fun, choosing what you want to see and what you have time to fit in. Travel in itself can be quite stressful. Even with careful planning, things can go weird. Karen and I left on Wednesday April 22nd at about 2:00PM and with the 9 hours time difference, arrived in Amsterdam on Thursday the 23rd.  We got on a train and went to Groningen where my daughter Jennifer, her husband Hugo and grand baby Nora live. He met us at the station and we were oh so glad to see him. There are lots of canals in The Netherlands and we stayed on an old fishing boat that had been updated a bit. Airbnb is a fun way to go if you are willing to take a chance that all might not be as it is at your home! The water in the shower went from hot to ice cold without warning. We didn't have wifi......I know....a few years that wouldn't have mattered. It wasn't wonderful , but it was an adventure. There is a wonderful park close to w...

Karen and I are in Groningen, The Netherlands.  We arrived Thursday April 23, took a train and then went to our boat where we are staying. It is an old fishing boat and quite unique! Wifi didn't work and that wasn't great, but it was an adventure. We walked the town of Groningen and did some shopping,  of course. Today is Sunday and we will spend some time with Hugo's parents. Tomorrow is King's Day so we will celebrate  his day. We also will leave for London Monday in the evening. Here are a few pictures.  And here is Nora....... And Karen!
