blog Number 2 for today!!

I enjoyed doing the first one so much, I thought I'd do another one.

This one will be about fun sites to look at and a couple of books that I've read that you might enjoy.

Now for a few sites.

This is for those who like to cross stitch. It has some cute spring patterns and is pretty to look at.

Another cross stitcher. She is in Arizona and her pictures of her area are really pretty.

Not sure where this lady is from but I needed to hit the translate button. She takes beautiful pictures and has a lovely home.

Many of you know her patterns and here is her blog. Very nicely done.

for those of us who like fall projects

Book Review

Still Life: A Chief Inspector Gamache Novel

I love her books. There must be about eleven of them. They begin in a small village in Canada call Three Pines. One wouldn't think there would be much crime in such a beautiful place but evil lurks even in the most beautiful of places. I've listened to some of them on audio and love them and I also download them on Kindle. If you like  Detective Inspector books, I think you would fully enjoy these.

Louisa Clark is an ordinary girl living an exceedingly ordinary life—steady boyfriend, close family—who has barely been farther afield than her tiny village. She takes a badly needed job working for ex-Master of the Universe Will Traynor, who is wheelchair-bound after an accident. Will has always lived a huge life—big deals, extreme sports, worldwide travel—and he is not interested in exploring a new one.
I really enjoyed this book. I learned a lot about subjects that I never really thought about before. It's being or has been made into a movie as well. I don't know if  I want to see it or not.

Slow Stitch: Mindful and Contemplative Textile Art by [Wellesley-Smith, Claire]

My most favorite current stitching book. Most areas of our lives could do with a lot of slowing down.

This book is lovely to look at and will make you want to pick of a needle and thread and get stitching.

This is my attempt at slow stitching.

And now for a recipe!

If you are a lentil lover, this just might do it for you. I think I will make this for class tomorrow. Sounds very warming.

Earlier this month we had our Boro Collage Class. Ten amazingly creative people came together and designed their own collages. Below are samples of what we started. Thanks to Sarah, Gail, Marlene, Susan O , Susan P, MaryAnn, Alison, Nancy, Marci, and Karla for sharing their day with me.

I love this piece, beautiful colors and great background.

Karla has this collage down perfect. She is amazing.

Classy Beginning....notice the chop sticks??? Lunch utensils.

Sorry about the quality of this picture. So many fun ways to place a background.

Note the texture in Susan's background.

Gail is putting her Sashiko stitching expertise to good use.

This is MaryAnn's beginning for her tribute to her Grandmother.

Nancy has a bag in mind for her project.

Alison is making great progress.

Marlene has a way with color and is on a mission to finish!!

MaryAnn is at the finish line of her beautiful tribute using memorabilia from her Grandmother

Marci is using beautiful creams and blues for her background.

I hope I get the chance to see all these projects when they are finished. These ladies were such an inspiration to me. We stepped out of our comfort zone and tried new skills. Keeps life interesting. Thanks to all of you who came and participated. It was a wonderful day.

Next for a new class in May exploring Stitch Journals. It will be fun.
