Getting my Slow Stitch project in Order

Image
December 31, 2019 I'm ready to  begin my month long adventure with stitching something every day. I have chosen two to choose from, maybe a little of each every day, maybe only one. No stress. I'd love for some one to send me pictures and/or thoughts about your practice. This section of an old quilt was given to me by a dear friend who recently passed away. I wanted to honor her memory with patching it together and then stitching it until it seems finished.   A little closer view. The next one is layered with fabric pieces that I hand dyed last summer. It might get rearranged as I stitch. This is how I'll start stitching tomorrow. If you would like to join me, I'd love to have fellow adventurers. I'll use different types of threads and maybe add seashells or acorn tops or who knows. Come along for the ride.  See you January 1, 2020

Beginning a New Year and a New Stitch Journey

Want to come along? Here are the Buzz Words~~~ Stitch Meditation, Slow Stitch, Daily Practice, Stitch Journey, Embroidery Practice, Intentional Sewing, and Mindful Stitching. I love the idea of all those words. Slow down, think, take a walk, sew slowly. A lot of us are retired. We Can have more time. Do we? Or do we fill up every day with things to do? Are they important things? Are they what you really want to do?  Especially when a new year arrives we think of things past and things coming up. As for me I would like to put some effort into the things that go on my calendar. Choose some things that make me grow, things that encourage me to be better in my Christian life and in my family life. Make more time for the people that I really love being with. The classes at my home are a huge part of all of these words. The ladies who come make me think, make me laugh,  share food together and sometimes  share some serious things. We are here to encourage each other, share

The End of a Decade!!!

With just a few more days left in this year and this decade, do you have special moments that come to mind. Good ones, bad ones, sad, happy? I have some of each . I've made some new friends and lost some dear friends. Usually that is the hard part about holidays, remembering those who are no longer here to share. At Ginny's she lights a candle for each of those in our family that have passed away and sometimes there are more than one for the year. ******************************************* On a happier note I found  Craft in America 7:00 PM Sunday Dec.28 on PBS  I think it's been on before but I'm going to check it out ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Fun Facts about January It is the second month of winter. In the southern hemisphere January is a summer month the equivalent of July. Sometimes the Saxons called January the wolf month because hungry wolves would come into their towns search

My favorite month

Image
I know there are those who favor this month above all others! Nice days and cool evenings. Sweater weather. I love the leaves and all the acorns. We just returned from a camping trip to Eastern Oregon with two of our favorite Long time friends. Over by Burns we stayed two nights on our daughter and son-in-laws property. The darkness of the night gave us the most brilliant star show I've seen in a long time. In the morning the waves of geese and Cranes flying in to a nearby field was spectacular. It was amazingly quiet except for all the conversation going on with the geese. Very cute tiny town...love the parking meter!! We had a wonderful lunch at this hotel. If you haven't been......you should go. Great museum with a very helpful host. The last night of our trip was spent at Cottonwood Canyon camp ground. It was full so we parked in the parking lot. Still there was a lot to see and you can go down to the river where there are rocks to want
