December 27 2012

I guess if I'm going to get anything else written before 2013, I'd better get at it.

Earlier this month Loren and I went to downtown Portland and watched the Tuba Christmas. It was held at Pioneer Courthouse Square and was beautiful. Listening to that many tubas outside was wonderful.

It was a little misty and a bit cold but all crowded together, it wasn't bad.

I love the old courthouse. Tried to get the flag billowing out, almost. It is such a beautiful old building. We don't have many buildings like this, we tear them down and make something new.

nice tree...great back view of someones head!

After watching for a while we went to....

Besides the greatest smelling cigars, they sell their wonderful cigar boxes. I was looking for a perfect one to give my daughter with a scarf that I knitted for her. Of course, I found one and sorry I didn't take a picture of it. It is black and just perfect for her. Score!

A little later in December, we had our Pioneer Quilts Christmas party. Someone brought this chocolate wine. I had my doubts as to how good it might be,,,,, wow it was really good. I don't know where to find it, but it was chocolaty and very smooth. A great surprise. I would not have purchased it without tasting it, but now I'd like to have some again.

My granddaughter, Sylvia, had a choir concert at Silverton High School and after it was over a friend took this picture of Sylvia, her mom Carrie, and her mom...me! Such charmers.

We had Christmas at Ginny and Darren's. They are wonderful hosts and we ate and drank very well. Jennifer is in The Netherlands with her Hugo and she was missed, but she is having a wonderful time so we had fun on our own. Nice guy, he took her to Paris for Christmas.

Here is Sylvia wishing us all a Happy Christmas.

Now is the time to reflect on the passing year and make plans for doing better in the coming one. It seems like getting a new page on the calendar...Not just a new week or month, but a whole new year, puts us in mind to make better choices.

I am going to try to live more mindfully and with more awareness. I would love to conquer the "sugar monster". I have a great friend who is going to help me remember to live purposefully in areas of eating and thinking. Instead of saying, "I can't have that (food)", to say, "I don't eat that." It's a better choice of words. Of course, I CAN eat it, I just choose not to.    I want to think of eating for health and energy, not just to satisfy a current craving! So, if you want to join me, or help me, let me know.

I am so blessed by God to live in a wonderful world, a great country, a beautiful city and a warm comfortable house. I have the best family, great husband, cute pets and a nice job. I know I have the best friends a person could have. I go to the most awesome church around...Solid Rock. I am loved by the one and only God. Can't top that.

Thanks for being a part of my story. Any comments are welcome.

Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
