New baby and other stuff

I haven't written in quite a while. So many things have happened in my personal life that I have just been tooooo distracted to sit down and write. My son-in-laws mother had brain surgery, we had a tragic death in the family, a baby waiting to be born and my granddaughter also had some surgery . As much as I have faith that all things work out for good in the end, I admit I had my fair share of anxiety.

The mother is doing well, the baby...Eleanor (Nora) has been born and Sylvia is doing well. Keep reading, there will be pictures.

A few weeks ago after church Ginny and Darren talked us into visiting a berry farm and we picked marionberries.  Darren said we could have a big box picked in 20 minutes. He was correct.

The berries were big and delicious.

Loren and Ginny show off the bounty. Darren had picked a whole box by himself in the same amount of time that it took Ginny, Loren and I....I believe we ate quite a few.  We froze them and are now thawing out a few at a time and topping our ice cream with them. Very tasty.

While Sylvia was recovering in the hospital we walked through the garden at Good Samaritan. I have never been there before and it is a lovely place to visit (the garden). If I had known it was there, we may have waited there instead of the waiting room which was filled with a lot of noisy people.

Around several of these posts were pictures of Portland interest done in tiles. It was very pretty. Wish I had come out here earlier. Anyway, Sylvia is home and doing very well.

Last Monday was our July meeting of Girl Gang at Pioneer Quilts. We will have one more time to meet there in August...the 2nd Monday...and then in September we will begin meeting at my Studio.

These ladies bring so many things for show and tell. They are a talented group.

This one and the next are done by Carol P. She did them from a pattern on line and the first is one size and then the next is a smaller version.

So cute.

i want to say this one is Susan P.'s and if I'm wrong I am sorry, I know she has done one and I want very much to make one myself.

This one is Carol P.'s also. I'm sure she doesn't sleep!

Sarah L has been known to make really large quilts and really tiny ones with 1/4" paper piecing. Here is her latest really large ones.

Diana brought her version of the Primitive Primer quilt by Sue Spargo. I love how she has kept the red fabric theme in several blocks. It is beautiful.

Ok now for some baby pictures. Eleanor finally arrived and here she is with her daddy.

Hugo and Nora

Baby Nora going home

It's a hot day today and a little sweaty! She does sleep a lot. I am planning to go the The Netherlands this coming Wednesday and spend a little time kissing that baby girl. I am so proud of Hugo and Jennifer. I know they will be great parents....even if they have to be parents without me close by.

More pictures when I get back.

Now for some class updates

I am leaving Wednesday and won't be in town for the Spargonian class next Saturday. My good friend, Karen will be filling in for me and she is a great teacher. She knows how to do many of the stitches that we use to embellish our "Sue" quilts. Be sure and come and enjoy spending time with her.

I'm not sure when Pioneer is closing so we may be able to have our class there in August or at my Studio if they have closed by then.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

That pretty much finishes out July. The 1st Friday class that is held at my Studio will not meet in August as I will be snuggling with Nora....September will be our next time to meet on Friday Sept. 5. In this class you may bring anything that you are working on and I am available for help or questions. I hope you will plan to come in Sept.

  1. Congratulations, Grandma Betty. This little one will change your life and you won't want to come home. She is so cute. Thanks for sharing her picture. Also sending prayers for the brain surgery patient and the family who had the tragic loss. Be safe in your travels and enjoy your time in the Netherlands
