doing a little dyeing today

I have been saving onion skins and avocado pits and skins and marigolds for some time.  Yesterday I decided to get out the pots and get busy.


This is the onion skin dye. I had two big plastic bags of the skins and it made a pretty dark orangie color. I'll leave the fabric in over night. I have some wool that I will add in a couple of hours.


Avocado skins made a deeper pinkish dye than the pits. I cooked them separately and like the two shades. The pit color is the next picture.


You can see the lighter color.



Marigolds make a very pretty light yellow.
It is always a surprise to see what color comes. Always different.

Friday August 17 is the Petit Fours class. Pinterest has lots of these type blocks called "inchies".  These are pictures of the ones I have been working on.  It will be fun sharing small bits of lace and fabric to build with. Come and join the fun. 10-2---$10.00

Camping in the Rain

 Hello Everyone,  We went camping at Barview Jetty a little while ago and it rained almost all the time we were there! On the way it was necessary to stop here at our favorite fish shop! Best shrimp, sauce, and clam chowder that we have found.  Excellent. We went there on the way to camp and on the way home. Even thought it rained so much, the clouds were spectacular. The sand had some cool patterns We had friends that camped next to us and we ate really well.  Some reading and stitching were also part of our days. A couple weeks ago we went to McIver park to camp. Again it rained almost the whole time we were there. Same friends kept us entertained and we continued with our eating really well. This is a reflection in the lake of the sun trying to come out. Mamma ducks and babies were enjoying the break in the rain. We have found out that our beloved Oscar has Prostate cancer and Cushings disease. It's a sad blow as we lost both our Silkies last year. We don't know how long we

Coming out of hibernation

 I decided it was time to bring my blog back to life. I thought about it for some time and decided it would be so nice to connect with friends again even if it's just with words. I have mostly enjoyed being at home and catching up with reading and sewing. My Etsy shop is doing well and I would like to share some of the things that are currently available.                                        I bought this tin in The Netherlands when I was recently there visiting my daughter and her family. They took me to a very cool old antique shop and they have Lots of tins. The shop had so many things that I would have liked to take home. But Not possible. This is another one!
